Historic pigments colour chart (List #1)
For artists, restorers and researchers, who want not only to know the names of the original pigments used in pre-Renaissance and Renaissance, but also wish to see true colours directly “on paper”, is now available in our shop the Historic pigments colour chart - Selection “Cennino Cennini”, with original colours applied by hand.
In setting up the pigments colour chart, we followed closely the list, which Cennino Cennini (a Tuscan artist, who worked as an apprentice to Agnolo Gaddi and attained to the traditions set down by Giotto) drew up in “The Craftsman’s Handbook”. In his late fourteenth-century manuscript Cennini mentioned and described the various techniques used by painters in the times of Giotto.
The pigments showed in the chart are exclusively of mineral or vegetal origin. Among them we gladly mention the precious Lapis Lazuli (quarried from the Afghan mines) and the Vermilion Original.
The price of the Historic pigments colour chart - Selection “Cennino Cennini”, completely hand-made, is 10.00 €
